Movies
I am a huge fan of movies . I wrote the screenplayes for parts one and two of a Science Fiction trilogy. And I am currently circulating them.
The below listing is just a few favorite movies. Later, I hope to get the discussion section going to hear other peoples perspective on different films.
Here are some favorite movies. (I'll add more later). They are not necessarily my only favorites, just good movies that you may not have seen:
Sci-Fi
Blade Runner - (All time favorite), I don't even know why. Combination of the genuis of Ridley Scott, a near perfect soundtrack by Vangelis, and a believeable future. (Except for the flying cars, replicants, off-world colonization, and a world with animals too expensive to own, all within a mere decade from now).
The Fifth Element - Incredible elements in this film come together to give an overall great experience. This film has everything.
Star Wars - Ok. 1-6 (not in that order, ha ha) Gotta mention 3,4,5 are my favorites overall. But 3 was too busy trying to Wow, and forgot to woo.
Supernova - Great film. What I would consider hard science fiction, but not well known.
Soldier - Great flick.
The Chronicles of Riddick - Suprisingly, this is a great movie. Well, at least visually.
Lost in Space - While the movie is just ok. I actually studied this film for it's amazing vision. The first four minutes of the movie are some of the most amazing footage known to me in film.
The One - Jet Lee. Incredible!
Alien IV - Many people gave up after III, and never saw this one. I recommend this flick. It just is cool!
The Crow - Incredible movie. Too bad about Brandon...
Comedy
Be Cool - Hilarious
The Birdcage - Brilliant! Robin Williams, Gene Hackman and Nathan Lane. Enough said.
Friday - Chris Tucker rules!
Love Actually - Great great movie. So rich with human drama, and entertaining stories.
Start the Revolution Without Me - Great lines
A Night at the Roxbery - Hilarious but crude humor
My Stepmother is an Alien - Ok. I admit it. I used to really love Kim. (Gee... who didn't?)
Multiplicity - "I like pizza"
Office Space - Indescribably familiar, funny, and a little bit on the edge.
Drama
Lord of the Rings - By far the greatest trilogy of films I have ever seen. Or single loooong film if you prefer. I think Peter Jackson and Ridley Scott are the greatest directors alive today. And George Lucas is an obvious visual genius, but as he said: "I am the king of wooden dialogue"
Life as a House - I loved this film. It is not that I identified with it, but I could appreciate it's human drama. This film, quite simply, moved me! It's character were real, comical, messed up, and entertaining.
Ladyhawke - Great flick.
Fearless - Amazingly powerful film
Action
Pirates of the Carribean - I think Johnny Depp and Jeffery Rush game some of the most amazing performances I have ever seen. Plus, it's about pirates, goregeous women (Kierra is a doll), and lots of action and comedy. Err... not sure what happened to Mr. Depp in Charlie, but I hated that performance.
Jackie Chan - Basically any movie made by this uniquely gifted and likeable human. Particularly "The Drunken Master", "Operation Condor", and "Who am I".
